From Soap to Salvage
The co-creator of TV series The Block hopes its latest venture will set an example for other developers building tiny, “unliveable” apartments. Executive producer Julian Cress said this season’s imposing task – a low-density conversion of a derelict art deco building in Port Melbourne – set a standard in an emerging residential area. The rapid construction of compact, investor-targeted apartments across Melbourne has sparked a size matters debate in the property market. Check

Vision Magazine and the Octogon
Viridian's fabulously beautiful online Magazine Vision covered the Blocktagon Building in its latest issue, the writer and photographer Peter Hyatt of Hyatt and associates get the building and the Build, lovingly referring to the building as: Its the building with flares gold chains and reeking of patchouli oil. Its a wild child of the 60's and 70's. And its back again - and this time its a lot wiser, smarter and better looking then ever before. Grab a campari

Coffee and Design books are the mantra that holds up the Block at Mister Zen
Created as part of a challenge on this season's The Block, Mister Zen isn't merely riding the renovation reality television show's coat tails. Natalie and Sam Osborne, who also own Piccolo in Prahran, met The Block crew several seasons ago and bought a coffee caravan to cater to the crew, contestants and tradies on the strength of the bond that formed. Now they've taken over the base of the old Hotel Saville site, home to The Blocktagon apartments for a bricks-and-mortar cafe

The Block Bondi, in the beginning..............
Cleaning out our ancient file drawers today Julian happened upon the original sketches for The Block Bondi. They were a little bit worse for wear, but 10 years in a draw will do that to you! We love the detail with the cheeky gals on the balcony, something that Channel 9 fixed before their onair appearance, where they appeared in well placed bikinis! After 10 years in a drawer we say free the nipple, it seems like a very 2015 thing to do! #freethenipple #bondi #architec
